Hooray for Queen of Queers

The Queen of Queers blogsite isn’t afraid to show some skin.

Kudos to them for their approach to SL blogging.

The models look fantastic, and it’s great to blog a different photographic approach to SL. Not naturist, accepting of the fact that a nipple is a nipple, part of an increasing blogging trend to accept that nudity happens in life, real or virtual.

Happy Hannukah

We pride ourselves, here on SLN, on being all-inclusive. Gay, straight, black, white, we’re all one big family of virtual naturism, and we do not differentiate between peoples.

And that’s no different when it comes to Diwali, or Milad un Nabi (aka Mawlid, the Prophet’s birthday, January 3rd, next) or Hanukkah, the Jewish Festival of Lights, which began tonight.

Ofra, a former conscripted member of the IDF, lights the first candle of Hannukkah

At SLN, our only concern is that you embrace, or are a supporter of naturism and commune with the wonderful world God/Allah/or whoever your chosen deity is, provided.

As as result, I invited my Jewish, Israeli friend Ofra over to ‘dinner’ tonight at my place and we lit the first candle of Hannukkah. (well, the truth is, if I’m online and any of my SL friends wish to pop over, it’s an all-embracing open house. Ofra happened to be online, so the invite seemed appropriate).

It reminded me of a time when I did work for a Jewish couple and they partly paid me in an array of sweet foods while we discussed the Jewish people’s place and plight in the world. A lovely couple, whose parents’ had escaped Germany a couple of months before World War 2 broke out. A time of hate.

That time of hate goes on, towards the Jews, towards the people of Gaza, and internecine feuding within Islam. You’ll have read the news today. 132 children and nine staff dead in a pointless, idiotic attack in Peshawar, Pakistan. Even the Taliban in Afghanistan are describing the attack as ‘unIslamic’.

I’m not a particularly religious person, but Ofra offered a small prayer to those who so needlessly lost their lives in Pakistan today, typing it in local chat in Hebrew. I didn’t understand the words or, indeed, even the characters of the alphabet she typed in, but I understood the sentiment.

At this time of year, שלום עליי אדמות, רצון טוב לכל הגברים, or السلام على الأرض، والنية الحسنة لجميع الرجال. Peace on Earth, goodwill to all men. I hope Google Translate has got that right for me.

I’m thrilled whenever Ella comes back with some stats from the blog. We’ve had ‘x’ readers in Israel, ‘x’ readers in Saudi Arabia, ‘x’ readers in Iraq, ‘x’ readers in Pakistan. It seems, to me, that a common interest in naturism, real or virtual, unites all those viewers/readers of the blog. And I’m proud of that, even though my role is kind of minimal in its publication. The kudos should go to Ella and Pookes in producing something that, briefly, virtually, unites us all. A celebration of the human body, a celebration of humanity.

Let’s ensure that 2015 can be a year when we all, Christian, Muslim, Jew, black, white, gay, straight, can begin to row back from the horrible, hateful world we’ve inhabited in 2014. Shalom Salaam.

A Shalom Salaam flag, integrating the LGBT rainbow

One of the delights of SL is that I have met and befriended people from around the globe, of different faiths, colour and sexual orientation. I’d not have had that luxury in my life without SL. It’s a thrill and a delight to see those people online and say ‘hello, how’s this wonderful thing called life?’. It has enriched me as a person in the real world.

Would I, sitting in the UK, have had a chance to meet the likes of Ofra without SL? Doubtful. When January 3rd rolls around, I shall also offer my best wishes to my Muslim friends in SL celebrating the Prophet’s birthday. Without SL would I have met them? Equally doubtful.

We’re all on this earth for a short time. I’m closer to my ‘exit stage left, pursued by a bear’ point than I am to my entrance to it. I embrace the wonderful diversity of humanity in real life too, sharing my real life naturism with gay & straight people, people of different faiths, people of different colour. I am enriched by them being in my life. I am enriched for having Hanukkah explained to me by a fellow SL user with real life experience of it.

When The Beatles were at their peak it was said that in some eastern bloc countries their message of love, spread by samizdat tapes, was undermining communism. Let us hope that, within SL, naturist or not, the same message is being spread around the globe. A message of love. Not a message of hate, death and division. Happy Hanukkah, everyone.

Another SL surgery

ella sign surgery_001b

Pookes held a very successful ‘surgery’ at Su Casa earlier this year, gauging people’s views on SLN and what they liked, what they didn’t and so on. As things stand at the moment, i.e. real life permitting, and it’s looking good this week, I plan to be in world, at the SLN office (or thereabouts) tomorrow night, Wednesday, to maybe meet up with some of you and get your opinions on the blog, what you like, what you think we could do better. I was going to make it tonight, Tuesday, but it’s bit short notice, so tomorrow night it is.

Note that the times are GMT, not SL time. I will be in SL tonight too, and may drop on by the office while I do one or two ‘housekeeping’ things on the side.

Would you like to join us in Second Life naturism?

It’s not the real thing, but it’s a fun substitute when it’s winter time.

And it doesn’t cost that much. We’ve run guides before on sourcing items to give you a fabulous looking avatar for free. Once you decided SL’s for you, you can spend as little or as much as you wish.

I’ve just received a notecard from Elbag & Brenda, who run Eden Naturopolis, where one of SLN’s offices is based, and I thought I’d share it with you in case you’re considering joining SL and building a home here, or if you’re already a player and wish to consider a plot on the Estate.

Hello Edennauts (and others!)

Here is my land availability update for the end of a very exciting and expansionist 2014 in the Eden and North Sea estates.

Eden remains the premier place to live in SL and we are blessed with a generally stable occupation profile, we rarely have any more than 5 parcels vacant of the 100 or more parcels available and this does not count the residents living the dream on the Blue Lagoon complex and Eden Heron, the new developments on Eden Cygnet and Eden Celebration and the Estate Apartments dotted around the place.

Just a few parcels available at the moment from central sales and one or two available as private sales. All central sales are automatically listed on the Property Boards dotted about the estate and at our mainland locations based from Moobthunb sim. Have you visited there yet? There are five sims there with access to Bingo Strait and Blake Sea and beyond not to mention Triumphal Yacht Club around the corner – beware of Orca Flotta though she’ll rope you into some job or other if you hand around too long….!!!

Remember too that Brenda and Dengo can help with any tweaking of the land you might require (within reason):-

Goldcrest NW – is for sale and this is a shame since it is in easy sailing distance of everywhere on the estate and on one of the very first sims that Eden was formed from 5 years ago.

It has 4,736 sq.m and 750prims Purchase price is a snip at L$7,000 and weekly tier is L$2,250 – a lovely spot with a great outlook!

Sparrow NE – has come up for sale, again a lovely spot close to Naturopolis and the Gateway channel into The North Sea past the airport – Its a large plot at just under 6,000 sq.m. and ideal for someone with modest building and living needs having just 570 prims available on such a large parcel. Purchase price is consequently just L$5,000 and the weekly tier a snip at L$1,710

Hawk Clifftop – whilst Eden is of course primarily a tropical island estate Hawk sim boasts this cliff top parcel which overlooks the Gateway Channel into Eden AND the Blue Lagoon complex to its East – it probably has the most comprehensive views over the whole East side of the Eden Estate, so if you have pretensions to being “Top of the Pile”, then you can Lord it above all on this super site.

This is a large parcel at 6,208 sq.m and it provides 750 prims at a purchase price of L$7,000 and a weekly tier of L$2,250 – its a bit of a unique location.

Eagle SW – is another “One Off” location backing onto the North Sea cliffs from which you get a free view of the Breadnut start and finish line whilst facing inwards and North towards and with access to the WHOLE of Eden. So if you are looking for a quiet location with easy access to all areas of the estate then this is the one for YOU…!!

Its a small area at 3,856 sq.m but packs a punch with 800 prims available for you to build you dream escape at a purchase price of just L$7,000 and weekly tier of L$2,400.

Brenda and I would like to wish you all a wonderful Christmas and a Prosperous 2015 and we hope you all continue to enjoy playing a part in the great adventure we started out on all those years ago when we set Eden up- we never dreamed it would grow in the way it has and we LOVE to see so many people enjoying Eden as much as we do. Thanks too to everyone who has helped us make Eden what it is, there are too many people to mention but to all of you a GREAT BIG THANK YOU.

I don’t actually own land in SL, but it’s something I’ve been thinking of doing for some time, if I could create something reflective of my RL naturist sojourns and maybe do it in the way Tess has done the ‘Naked Dreams’ sim, as a unique vision still within the Eden fraternity (and sorority).

The only thing that has put me off doing this is that the blog takes up a lot of my time that’s set aside for relaxing, and often it means I don’t actually get time to get in world as often as I would wish, such is the workload of SLN itself.

In my ideal world I’d have a sim that was a conflation of the best of France & Croatia, the wooded camping areas that lead down to beaches or rocky outcrops. Could I do it? Financially, yes, but it would probably require me bowing out of blogging to manage it, so until I get bored with blogging, it looks like it’s a dream that will have to wait.

Anyway, if you think that SL and virtual naturism is something you’d like to try, then check out the plots available at Eden right now.
