The Betty Page

Betty Page.

An iconic pin-up girl in the 1950s, regularly photographed fully nude and never came across as cheap or sleazy. Of course, in those days, photographs weren’t quite as explicit as they are today (well, they were, but not in the context of pin up girls) so Betty carried with her an aura of jazz cool, an aloofness that still exudes beauty and sexuality today.

We previously made Betty one of our ‘Heroes of Naturism’. Abigail, who wrote that post, also had a go at being Betty.

Abbey, a different Abbey (maybe there’s something in the name that attracts avatars to retro sims and looks!) who has featured in these pages before, lives her Second Life as pop culture celebrities, and has lived her SL in the past as Audrey Hepburn, for example. It demonstrates just how like real life we can, within the limitations of the game, live our Second Lives. Currently, Abbey is living life as Betty Page. Here she is at the 1950s Time Portal sim, back in the 50s, in Betty’s trademark hairstyle and corsetry. The entire avatar was purchased on the Marketplace for L$150, apparently.

While Betty Page isn’t quite a ‘naturist’ topic, she certainly did enough photoshoots on beaches, in the nude, (see the gallery) to make naturism appear rather jolly and wholesome.
