I’m English-born, and grew up in London, but I’ve spent my married life in Scotland.
The nights draw in quickly here in North Britain, and the dawn takes a long time in breaking at this time of year. In between, we’ve had a sort of nondescript, grey afternoon, darkened by events in Glasgow on this, Scotland’s national day, St.Andrew’s Day.
In case you haven’t heard the news, last evening a police helicopter crashed into a busy pub beside the banks of the River Clyde.
So far there seems to be three fatalities, and the expectation that the death toll will rise.
The emergency services attend the scene of last night’s helicopter crash, with the River Clyde in the foreground
Our thoughts and condolences go to those affected by last night’s tragedy.
Ella.
British media have updated the casualty list since I posted this, with the death toll now standing at eight fatalities.
